Sound claims for a Thursday double?

There’s a good word for Laredo Sound to pay the day’s expenses in Taunton’s 1.40 Audrey Chudleigh Memorial Beginners’ Chase.

A pleasing seasonal return at Ascot has put him straight for this, and with his stable going well of late the six-year-old can get us back on the winning trail.

Ground and trip are spot on, and Taunton’s sharp track should pose no worries since he won at both Lingfield and Southwell over hurdles last season. He also has no qualms about racing right-handed, as a glance at his form shows wins as a two and three-year-old at San Siro and Clarefontaine.

What’s more, chief market rival Deep Purple is an understandable exchange negative after his poor chasing debut at Wetherby, so side with Laredo Sound to score at the first time of asking over fences. Snap up a bit of 15/8 with William Hill.

A little later in the afternoon if you’ve got a few quid to play up then an investement on Nicky Henderson’s Larks Lad wouldn’t go amiss. The stable aren’t exactly shy when it comes to training a bumper winner, and they say this fella is easily good enough to take Newbury’s 3.45 race, the 2m 1/2f bumper. He should end up around 2/1, the best price in the morning with

Rely on Quentin for the day’s ‘Ex’penses

The best bet of the day looks to be at Market Rasen, in the 2:40 Langley Solicitors Handicap Chase, where Quentin D’ex can make up for a blunder last time by scoring at the Lincolnshire track. Be quick and snap up the 2/1 currently available about the Charlie Mann runner with william hill.

Expect Kosmos Bleu to go well at Exeter

It’s been tipping it down for the last 24 hours at Exeter, but one horse who’s got plenty of form on soft ground is Robert & Sally Alner’s 10-year-old Kosmos Bleu, who can be backed each way with a view to making the frame at the very least in the 2m 3f H’Cap Hurdle at 4.10pm this afternoon. The defection of overnight favourite Dalyan Dancer makes the race a whole lot more attractive as a betting medium, and on a day that threatens to become a Paul Nicholls benefit with Gullible Gordon, Pasco & The Tother One all well backed favourites on the card, the tongue-tied Kosmos Bleu has a great chance to net his first win over the smaller obstacles with fit-again Andrew Thornton doing the steering. Back to form when second at Stratford last time, the form of that race has been boosted by Avant Gardiste (3rd that day) winning next time up at Towcester (beating subsequent Cheltenham winner Leamington Lad), and at 6/1 each way with William Hill, fresh from a break on a track where he ran some good races over hurdles as a novice, Kosmos Bleu is the selection.

WON at 8/1

Tom’s Weekend Football Betting Tips

If you fancy winning a bit of pocket money on the football this weekend, the following treble looks the one to be on at just shy of 3/1 with Paddy Power: SPL leaders Celtic away at Inverness (1/2), money bags QPR at home to travel sick Nottingham Forest (4/6), and finally the good news story which is Rotherham, back in positive points after startng the season on -17, and taken to overwhelm a decidedly average looking Barnet outfit.

Finally, anyone who’s ever attempted to define the word value cannot ignore the 10/1 currently on offer with William Hill about Wigan taking three points from Liverpool at Anfield. The Scousers without Fernando Torres resemble a boozed-up old slapper at kicking out time stumbling from one possible conquest to another, desperately trying to work out where the a sniff of goal might come from, and if Steven Gerrard is feeling the effects of the trip to Belarus, then the 10/1 about the Latics with William Hill is miles too big.

Wigan would be 9/2 shots on my book, and while I wouldn’t be rushing to hit the lay button on Betfair, you simply have to have a little bit of what is just the wrong price. The men from the JJB are a tight bunch under the tutelage of Steve Bruce, and in Amir Zaki they possess a genuine 90-minute goal threat.
