Expect a Sunday symphony at Newmarket’s end of term bash – this weekend’s tips‏

It’s very much a case of the best of both world’s this weekend as Newmarket prepare to put on a big show for their Champion Stakes Meeting as the Flat season draws to a close, while at Cheltenham the marmalade and mustard coloured corduroy trouser brigade will be out mob-handed as the National Hunt campaign gathers a healthy head of steam.

There are plenty of heavy hitters on display at both tracks, and we’ll kick off at Cheltenham where Philip Hobbs’ crack hurdler Snap Tie can make the perfect beginning to his chasing career to by taking the WBX.com Novices’ Chase over two miles at 2.55pm on Friday afternoon.

Only five go to post for this £12,000 pot, one of which is stablemate Safari Journey, and although the ground might be a shade quicker than connections would ideally prefer Snap Tie should be able to see off this opposition with a minimum of fuss on the way to sterner tests ahead.

He’s got the ideal physique for the job over the larger obstacles, and distinguished himself last term with a big display in the Christmas Hurdle, alongside tilts at several of the major prizes.

Newmarket’s Cambridgeshire Meeting weekend tips‏

After four months of mayhem on the July Course it’s back to business as usual for patrons of HQ’s famous Rowley Mile, and they’ll be packing in for what look to be quality cards on both Friday and Saturday.

It doesn’t look like we’ll have to fish too deep below the surface to get a winner on the board on Friday, with Sir Michael Stoute’s improving four year old Nayef gelding Confront a warm order to notch his fourth victory of the campaign in the aptly named Nayef Joel Stakes at 1.55pm.

Confront has made real strides this season, but still has some way to go to match the exploits of his famous father, the winner of a Champion Stakes, a Sheema Classic, a Juddmonte International, and a Prince Of Wales’s Stakes among others. Not a bad haul!

Confront’s season began with a win over nine furlongs in a Newmarket handicap, and has progressed smartly via a Group 2 Summer Mile second to Aqlaam (the same Aqlaam who went on to win the Group 1 Prix du Moulin) to wins at York and Haydock.

This weekend’s best Horse Racing tips from Haydock, Newmarket and France

The lull in between Glorious Goodwood and York’s Ebor Meeting might not throw up the best couple of weekend’s racing of the year, but fear not - there are winners a plenty still to be found, here’s the pick of the weekend action.

On Saturday the fillies take centre stage at Newmarket in the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes at 3pm. It looks a good renewal too, and the one carrying my cash will be Henry Cecil’s unexposed Chachamaidee, who made a very good impression when third in Royal Ascot’s Albany Stakes last time out.

A Lingfield  winner in June on her first ever racecourse spin she’s been brought along in typical unrushed fashion by her master trainer, she’ll love the step up in trip, and can make the frame at the least.

Back her each way at 5/1 with Stan James, not forgetting entries in the Lowther, Fillies’ Mile and Dewhurst pointing the way to greater things on the horizon.

Ascot, Newmarket & York – this weekend’s Racing tips‏

Having made the annual pilgrimage to Blackpool on Tuesday night for the Stan James World Matchplay Darts at the Winter Gardens, an event marred by sickening sightings of all the usual shameless suspects attempting to drown themselves on the contents of the free bar in the players’ lounge, it’s a rather smarter affair in prospect this weekend with Ascot hosting a fantastic card on King George day.

Out go the shorts and flip flops (it just wouldn’t do to attend the arrers overdressed) and in come some the rather more stylish threads associated with any trip to the Berkshire venue. They might moan about the new stand and the course layout, but it takes some beating when there’s a decent sized crowd in there.

The punters might be a shade less raucous than on the Fylde coast, but they may well be tempted to do the conga up and down the members’ lawn if Sir Michael Stoute’s Desert Creek can resume the form that saw him rack up consecutive wins at Yarmouth, Windsor and Haydock by taking the Emirates NBD Cup over a mile at 3.15pm.

Goldikova the answer to get July Meeting party started – Wednesday’s tip‏

Freddie Head’s star filly Goldikova can provide Betting Directory readers with a winning first day at the Newmarket July Meeting by taking this afternoon’s Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes at 3.10pm.

Poor ground was attributed to her muted showing on her seasonal reappearance in Longchamp’s Prix D’Ispahan, but with bullish statements now forthcoming from her trainer, she makes plenty of appeal at 2/1 with Boylesports.

Free £20 Bet to all new customer’s who join Boylesports

The overnight rain shouldn’t stop her (it’ll be a million miles removed from the bog at Longchamp in May), given that last year’s stunning campaign included Group 1 wins on Good to Soft in Deauville’s Prix Rothschild and Longchamp’s Prix du Moulin.

She followed those up with the small matter of a Breeder’s Cup Mile at Santa Anita, form that should see her win this comfortably provided she’s back on song.

Wednesday’s tip:

3.10 Newmarket – Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes – 3 Goldikova (win) @ 2/1 (Boylesports)

Stoute to strike with Fremantle – Day 5 Royal Ascot‏ Tips

There looks to be plenty in the favour of Sir Michael Stoute’s talented four year old Sadler’s Wells colt Doctor Fremantle as he steps back up in trip to 1m 4f in Saturday’s Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes (3.05pm), a race his trainer has done well in down the years.

His seasonal reappearance did this column a favour bearing the narrowest of wins from Staying On in Chester’s Group 3 Huxley Stakes, a performance full of grit as he could easily have chucked in the towel after being forced wide on the bend.

Stoute had indicated the Coronation Cup would be his likely destination after the Chester win, but patience in choosing this softer target can yield dividends.

Don’t forget his trainer wasn’t afraid to pitch him in against the very best last year, with a Group 3 win at Chester complemented by a fourth in New Approach’s Derby, plus a fourth in the Grand Prix de Paris and a disappointing show in the St Leger due to the ground.

Newbury & Newmarket – Weekend Horse Racing Tips!

It’s fair to say the new drainage system is getting a fair workout here at York with the rain bucketing down since 8am, but one of the most talked about horses of the day Warringah can have punters singing in the rain on the Knavesmire by landing the sportingbet.com Jorvik Stakes Handicap at 2.10pm (Friday).

This fella is the subject of great debate on his seasonal debut with the rain falling and a couple of disappointing efforts last term to put behind him, but this four year old son of Galileo is ready to make up for lost time after being gelded after finishing nearly last in the St Leger back in September.

Working like a serious horse, connections believe he could well turn out to be a fair bit better than just a handicapper (an entry in the Irish St Leger suggests exactly that), and with the rain softened going (changed to Good to Soft at the time of writing) unlikely to stop him since he won on exactly that description at Newbury last June, the 9/2 generally available looks a fair price. For added insurance take a guaranteed price with either Paddy Power or Boylesports.

Newmarket 2000 Guineas Tips Look Like Great Value

Many of the regular readers and followers of Tom’s Tips on this site will be eagerly anticipating Saturday’s Stan James 2000 Guineas at Newmarket as they clutch their antepost vouchers on the back of Tom’s advice from the last few weeks.

Back in March, Tom advised an each way bet on Mastercraftsman to win the opening Classic of the Flat Season at odds of 7/1, and the Aidan O’Brien runner is now best price 9/2 following good support in the last couple of weeks.

Tom’s other tip for the 2000 Guineas came last month when he advised an each way bet on Delegator at odds of 20/1 on the back of breaking news that the Brian Meehan Colt had produced a great piece of work on the Gallops, news that was confirmed in style when he won the Craven Stakes over Course & Distance a week later. He is now the joint 7/2 to win the race.

Latest 2000 Guineas Odds

Good Luck and enjoy the fantastic weekend of live sport, not forgetting to view some our free bets that can be claimed on all the live action from the Classics at Newmarket to the Hatton fight in Las Vegas!

Look to Ayr & Newbury for Saturday’s best bets

The sight of Delegator sprinting clear of good horses in Thursday’s Craven Stakes was an enjoyable one if you availed yourself of a bit of 20/1 just a week ago, and readers of this column will rightly be happily anticipating Saturday 2nd May when antepost vouchers for both Mastercraftsman and Delegator go on trial in the 2000 Guineas. Happy days.

Of more immediate concern is this weekend, and with plenty of important business still to be swept up over the sticks, plus increasing momentum for the Flat campaign, there are some decent opportunities.

Nicky Henderson (8 winners & a 22% strike rate over the last fortnight) has enjoyed a fantastic campaign – not least a mountain of winners plus a stellar first and third in the Champion Hurdle, and I’ll be entrusting a few quid to the talents of the master of Seven Barrows as he sends Pepsyrock north of the border to take in Ayr’s Albert Bartlett & Sons Handicap Chase at 4.35pm.

It took a couple of runs for the penny to drop for the six year old French import, but successive wins at Sandown and Newbury marked him down as horse to follow, and he looks like he could well continue his rate of improvement against some thoroughly exposed types who’ve got few secrets from the handicapper.

Fair enough he did get turned over at Kempton last time, but you can make excuses in that he was trying to give lumps of weight away, and more importantly I believe he’d have won despite the weight if the race had been at his preferred trip of two miles.

Even then a clean jump at the last would have probably been enough, and it’s interesting the handicapper responded by sticking him up a pound for being beaten.

Racing with a feather weight in a better race should see him to better effect, and dropping back in trip I expect him to win in the hands of Barry Geraghty.

I’ll be looking forward to getting involved with a couple down at Newbury, and in the absence Sir Michael Stoute’s Spanish Moon in the John Porter Stakes at 2.05pm it’s last year’s winner Royal And Regal who’ll be carrying my cash.

The rain falling here in Newbury last night is right up his street, and having been gelded since we last saw him in action we can fully expect our selection to be well wound up for this.

Lastly, don’t miss the Newbury’s Fred Darling Stakes at 3.10pm. A few unknown quantities in here, and some tall reputations on the line in this recognised 1000 Guineas trial.

Michael Bell’s Sariska could be the one to solve the puzzle – she’s been subject to some interesting support for the Newmarket Classic, supported into a current best price of 16/1, and gave punters plenty of encouragement on her only two year old racecourse outing, winnng a Newmarket maiden which has produced a couple of subsequent winners.

Bell reckons she could be something special, so take an each way interest for tomorrow’s assignment.

Good luck

Saturday’s tips:

7 Pepsyrock 4.35 Ayr (win)

3 Royal And Regal 2.05 Newbury (win)

14 Sariska 3.10 Newbury (each way)

Check out the latest free bets that are available on all this weekend’s fantastic Racing and sporting action.

Delegator makes each way appeal for 2000 Guineas

Thursday morning Gallop reports suggest that Delegator holds a live each way chance for the 2000 Guineas. Readers would be well advised to hold an ante post voucher at 20/1 Bet365 and Stan James before the price retracts further.
